it's a baby!!
doglet is clearly kicking back and straight chillin, maybe even 'ballin' ;). the ultrasound technician said "oh, isn't that cute, the baby is resting its head on its hands." i think you can see its hands peeping out over its head. doglet has clearly found a comfortable resting position and carved out a nice little womb bed.
looking at the baby up on the screen for the first time was, as i'm sure it is for many to-be parents, unreal. this small human has been growing inside of me for months that i can't see at all, and then there it is, in a very human-looking form.
i'm glad we have that under our belts. zach and i slept horrible the night before- he claims he didn't sleep at all, and after i woke up to pee in the middle of the night i couldn't fall back asleep. i think we were both nervous and excited.
i read a book and ate a bowl of cereal as the sun was coming up to try to get back to sleep, so when my alarm went off for work i didn't grab anything to eat because i wasn't hungry yet. big mistake. i ended up on the phone all morning with one of our senior engineers and couldn't grab food even as i started to get hungry. my brain felt like a puddle as i was talking to him. working with him also comes with warnings as he can be very prickly and doesn't really have a filter. after we got off the phone i had very little time until the 1pm ultrasound so i had to crash on getting at least getting some of the work done and send it to him since i knew i would be out pretty much the rest of the day (we also had an appointment with a midwife and did the bloodwork for the first trimester screening). right now i am coming off a big project at work that i was 100% full time on and now i am scrapping around for work. so far i've been able to piece things together so i don't have to take vacation (which is a position many of my co-workers have been in) but it also means when the work comes i have to be on top of it and do a good job so more work will come from them. not a great position to be in right now.
anyways, zach got up late and made us some food while i banged on the keyboard. i ate in the car on the way over and felt like an exhausted, stressed out mess. but once you process the ultrasound and all the good things that are happening all that just melted away. there's a baby!! father zachary and big mama VC are about to enter the building 😄
